The skinned design is perfect for pre-painting because the center of the piece is so different than the edges. You can use RMG for this, but we prefer PAX Paints. We used a deep red pax on all the muscle structure. Once that dried, we used a wash of black pax in the deep part of the muscles to give more depth. We used a small amount of brown around each tooth to give separation between them. We then sealed the pax with Gloss medium to give a nice shine to the paint.

Begin by gluing your prosthetic down completely as shown in "How to apply an FX FACES prosthetic". Seal the surface of the unpainted foam with a thin layer of either Pro-adhesive or Liquid latex. Allow to dry and powder. Brush off excess powder.

You can now begin to color the unpainted edges of the prosthetic. Choose a fleshtone color close to your own skintone. Apply with a makeup sponge, blending out onto the exposed skin. Once you've finished with this step, powder well and brush off excess. |
We now added thinned down Red RMG to the fleshtone makeup to simulate blood spatter and irritation of the skin. We thinned it with 99% isopropyl alcohol and flicked it on with a short bristle brush (see "how to apply an fx face" for this technique). Powder well and brush off excess. |
