We started by prepainting the teeth with an off white PAX Paint. We used a thinned down stain of Brown pax around each tooth. We then sealed the teeth with a layer of Gloss medium. Your now ready to begin gluing your prosthetic down completely as shown in "How to apply an FX FACES prosthetic". Seal the surface of the unpainted foam with a thin layer of either Pro-adhesive or Liquid latex. Allow to dry and powder. Brush off excess powder.
You may note that custom contact lenses are already in place. This can be easier than putting them in after your makeup is complete.

Your now ready begin coloring. Start with a base tone color. For this application we're using a Bluish grey tone. We mixed small amounts of blue RMG into a white RMG, then mixed that into a light fleshtone to get this color. Using a makeup sponge, apply the makeup over all areas of foam that resemble skin and avoid all areas of muscle and bone. Powder well to set the Makeup & brush off excess powder. |
It's time to start coloring the interior muscle and meat. Create a deep red RMG by mixing a tiny amount of blue into red. It's easier to use a makeup brush for this step. Color all muscle areas, exposed meat and around the perimeter of those areas. Once you've finished with this step, powder well and brush off excess. |
We wanted to add a highlight color to this makeup so we chose a mustard yellow to give a rotting look to the makeup. We started with yellow RMG and added a very small amount of blue to give it a slight green tone. We used the flat side of a small makeup sponge, dabbing it lightly onto the surface of the foam and exposed skin, hitting a few areas of the face like the brows, cheeks, nose and jawline. Powder well and brush off excess. |
